The House of Creed: 265 Years of Perfumery Royalty
A House Built on Craft, Not Commerce
In 1760, James Henry Creed opened a small tailoring and fragrance house on the streets of London. His clientele was not ordinary — among his earliest patrons was King George III. What began as bespoke garments soon evolved into something far more enduring: bespoke fragrance.
Over two and a half centuries later, Creed remains one of the last true luxury fragrance houses — family-owned, hand-crafted, and fiercely independent. While the industry around it industrialised, Creed held its ground.
The Royal Connection
Creed's relationship with royalty is not a marketing story — it is history. The house has created fragrances for Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, Empress Eugénie of France, and Winston Churchill. Each commission was a private creation, made to order, never mass-produced.
This tradition of bespoke perfumery continues today. The Creed family — now in its sixth generation — still oversees every formula, every batch, every bottle.
The Signature: Aventus
No fragrance defines modern Creed more than Aventus, launched in 2010 to celebrate the house's 250th anniversary. Inspired by the life of Napoleon Bonaparte — his ambition, his conquests, his complexity — Aventus became a cultural phenomenon almost immediately.
Its feminine counterpart, Aventus for Her, arrived in 2016. Where the original is bold and smoky, Aventus for Her is luminous and sovereign — bergamot, rose, jasmine, and musk woven into a scent that moves like silk.
The Creed Method
What separates Creed from the rest is not just heritage — it is method. The house uses a technique called infusion, steeping raw ingredients in alcohol over time rather than using synthetic shortcuts. The result is a depth and longevity that synthetic fragrance simply cannot replicate.
Ingredients are sourced globally — Bulgarian rose, Florentine iris, Haitian vetiver — and blended in Fontainebleau, France, where the house has been based since the 19th century.
Why Creed Endures
In an era of fast fashion and faster fragrance, Creed is a deliberate act of slowness. Each bottle is a commitment — to craft, to quality, to the belief that scent is one of the most intimate things a person can wear.
At MIRAIIA, we carry Creed because we believe the same thing. Fragrance is not an accessory. It is an identity.
